Jessy Valentin is an urban planner and sociologist based in San Marcos, Texas. His work spans community water infrastructure, foundation repair, neighborhood organizing, and academic research - all connected by a single thread: the belief that how we build places reflects how we value people.
He serves as Secretary of the Redwood Vista Water Supply Corporation, a nonprofit he helped form to bring clean water infrastructure to underserved communities in Guadalupe County. He runs Idealistic Construction and All Tech Foundation Repair, companies built from the ground up to serve Central and South Texas.
"For The Collective Self" is the research, the writing, and the work in progress. The name describes a framework: the individual and the collective are not separate projects - they are the same system, observed from different scales.

Founded and incorporated a member-owned nonprofit water board to bring clean water infrastructure to the unserved Rancho Vista and Redwood communities of Guadalupe County, Texas. Filed with the Texas Secretary of State, secured engineering assessments, managed two TWDB funding applications, and coordinated a partnership with the EPA's CAWAG program.

Specializing in concrete foundation repair, new foundations, releveling, and pre-purchase structural audits. Built on honest assessments and a patient, education-first approach for clients who have been misled before.
Planning - Community Design
Site planning, color-coded land use maps, utility and infrastructure diagrams, 3D printed community models, and before-and-after visualizations for property owners and small developers. Making technical planning readable by people who have never seen a master plan and probably felt like they were not supposed to.

In an attention economy built to monetize your discomfort, boredom is an act of resistance. "Boredom Protocol" is a manual for disconnecting with intention - not because stillness is good for you in some abstract wellness way, but because the inability to sit quietly has specific, documentable effects on how people make decisions, form relationships, and participate in community life.
This is not a meditation book. It is a field manual. It starts from a sociological and urban planning perspective: what does constant connectivity do to the people who shape and inhabit our neighborhoods? And what gets built when no one has the patience to pay attention?
